Repairs have been completed on the roof of the Culra bothy on the Ben Alder estate, after it was damaged during extreme weather conditions earlier this winter. The Mountain Bothies Association (MBA) made temporary repairs to the roof, but only one room was available for shelter during the time immediately after the damage was sustained.
Bothies provide a basic form of shelter for those who like to head into the hills with their walking boots, but it is important to have warm clothes, food and a camping stove if anyone intends to stay overnight.
A spokesperson for the MBA, said: "The room that was affected is now watertight and the bothy is once more fully functional."
With around 100 bothies to look after the MBA is very good at keeping their website up to date with the ones which are out of action due to the need for repairs.
Anyone intending to use one should check the website before planning a walk which relies on staying at one of the bothies in Scotland, England or Wales.
