Going for a jog or a walk with a significant other can have benefits in terns of health, one expert has said.Katherine Hobson, writing for US News and World Reports, said that it is always more fun to exercise in the company of another person, as well as being an excellent motivator to continue a fitness regime long-term.
However, she said that this should not turn into a competition and people should not aim to keep up with their partner if they know it is not possible.
"Don't hurt yourself. Test, but don't exceed your limits," Ms Hobson urged.
At the same time, people who have had plenty of practice should not criticise their partner if they find it tough, she said, adding: "Be kind and encouraging".
However, even those heading out for a walk with a new partner should put warmth and comfort above fashion, Christine Anne Piesyk of Clarksonville Online recommends.
She advised forgetting trends and layering up in a waterproof jacket, fleece and gloves in order to beat the winter chill.
