Wessex invites walkers for a picnic in summer clothing

03/06/2009 16:52
With the weather in the UK offering people a great opportunity to get out and enjoy the countryside, outdoor-lovers are being urged to put on their walking boots and summer clothing for a two-day walking festival.

The Wessex Walking Weekend is the second year of the festival organised by the National Trust and it will run from June 27th to 28th.

Ramblers will be offered the chance to learn about their local history from experts leading the guided walks.

Walkers will be able to discover the pleasures of their county's landscapes including a woodland wildlife walk on the Sunday.

The trail is scheduled to last for two hours and will teach people about the birds, bugs and beasts of Stourhead.

Stonehenge is also a venue for a ramble, passing through the flowering fields during Sunday afternoon.

Picnics could also be an important feature of the weekend for the chance to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.

Children heading out in the summer months may wish to try out the Regatta Protector boy's t-shirt.
