Lovers of the seaside may wish to try their hand at coasteering at the 2009 Gower Walking Festival in Swansea Bay. According to Coasteering.org, the activity is a mixture of climbing, scrambling, swimming and traversing the coastline and can allow participants to "explore areas of the coast that you would never normally see".
The Gower Walking Festival will take place from June 6th to 21st and will offer more than 45 different walks ranging from one mile to 30 miles in distance.
Other themes alongside coasteering include literature, history, sketching, pony trekking and bushcraft.
According to Tourism Swansea Bay, the Gower Peninsular was the first area in Britain to be designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Visitors may also get the chance to be taken to a lonely beach by a jet boat named the Sea Serpent and left to walk back home from their destination.
Anyone wishing to try their hand at coasteering or any of the other activities during the festival may wish to pack a lightweight waterproof such as the Regatta Joelle III waterproof jacket.
