Caldey offers a gentle walk in lightweight waterproofs

12/06/2009 16:48
An island off the coast of Wales offers the perfect opportunity for a summer stroll with lightweight waterproofs, a newspaper has suggested.

Caldey can be reached by boat trip from the seaside town of Tenby and is the perfect destination for walkers looking for a more leisurely outing, said the Guardian.

The reason for this - there are no hills and plenty of resting places - the newspaper explained.

Caldey is home to many ancient churches such as the ancient pebbled floor of St Illtud's Church to Norman-built St David's Church and a 1929 abbey, still in use today by Cistercian monks.

According to the Guardian, there are medieval etchings scrawled on the walls of St Illtud's - which walkers should look out for.

It goes on to say that if the weather turns to rain and lightweight waterproofs are no longer keeping the water out, the oldest independent museum in Wales is situated in Tenby.

Tenby is located in Pembrokeshire on the south-west coast of Wales.

Children heading out in unsettled weather may wish to try the Regatta Flutter girl's waterproof jacket.
