Berkley Castle is set to be a destination for people to venture out in their summer clothing this summer as it throws open its doors to visitors during the summer months. The castle will be open Sundays to Thursdays during June, July and August and is inviting guests to "enjoy the summer sunshine" while taking part in a special treasure hunt in its grounds.
According to event organisers, the treasure hunt will be fun for adults and children alike and will encourage them to get out and explore the castle grounds and gardens.
Clues range from cryptic questions such as "What fish is before the baby moon?" to more observational clues such as the number of chimneys that can be seen from a certain viewpoint.
The treasure hunt will run throughout the summer months and money made from the hunt will go towards restoring the medieval folk instrument - the Hurdy Gurdy.
Berkley Castle has been inhabited by the same family for some 900 years.
Not only are their gardens available to explore, but there is also a butterfly house at the castle.
Children spending time in the outdoors this summer may wish to look at the Regatta Protector boy's T-shirt.
