National Trust has 'stepped into the future'

27/05/2009 17:27
People looking to make the most of holidaying at home and some gentle exercise may wish to take advantage of a new service from the National Trust, it has been reported.

"We are all very familiar with the concept of downloading music or books, or even getting films via the internet. Now get ready for downloadable walks," said Frank Barrett, writing for the Daily Mail.

Mr Barrett went on to say the National Trust has updated its image of being associated with cream teas and souvenir shops and has "stepped into the future" by offering free walks, available to download from their website.

He added that they were perfect for all abilities as they were fairly undemanding.

The top five most popular of the walks included a six-mile ramble around the Bath skyline, 1.5 miles around Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire, the same distance stroll at Calke Abbey in Derbyshire, a three-mile walk at Stourhead and four miles at the White Cliffs of Dover.

Walks are listed by area as well as by theme such as wildlife walks, coastal walks and times of year.

UK holidaymakers may wish to try out the Jack Murphy Judy ladies summer shorts when heading out for a walk.
