For anyone who has been out walking on a chilly day and was unable to hold hands with their partner because of bulky gloves, one woman believes she has the answer.

Wendy Feller has developed the 'Smitten', which has to be seen to be believed, but is essentially two mittens morphed into one in the middle so that the wearers can hold hands.

The designer said she came up with a prototype after trying unsuccessfully to hold hands with her husband on a cold day.

"It dawned on me to create a mitten that was large enough for both our hands. That way, I thought, we could truly hold hands," Ms Feller remarked.

However, for anyone who walks over rough terrain or rambles in really cold conditions, such mittens are not advisable in case of falls or frostbite.

Instead, waterproof, Fleece-lined gloves from Dare2b may be more sensible, saving the hand-holding for when you return.
