Cycling tours made easy with sat nav

08/04/2009 15:25
People on cycling holidays in Scotland may now find it easier to find their way about thanks to a new range of tours from a company in Aberdeen.

Velodays has introduced the UK's first bike tours to be guided by sat nav, meaning that tourists will have more time to concentrate on the scenery and should spend less time messing about with maps.

The navigation device fits onto the bike's handlebars and then cyclists follow the directions. A person's own bike can be used or one can be hired and tours range from short excursions to two-week long trips.

Neil Innes, founder of Velodays, said: "Travelling by bike is a wonderful experience and a great way to see any country and meet local people."

Anyone going on a cycle tour may wish to purchase cycling trousers such as Dare 2b's Big Thrill, which are made of stretch fabric and have flat-locked seams to reduce the likelihood of chafing.
