Some two-thirds of people in the UK have admitted to having problems sleeping due to the stresses of the recession, a new report has stated. "Job insecurity can really put a strain on working relationships and motivation levels, and money worries alone can cause problems such as stress, anxiety and depression," explained Paul Farmer, chief executive of mental health charity Mind.
Workers who are finding it difficult to get a good night's rest due to stress may wish to lace up their walking shoes and head out for some exercise, according to HowStuffWorks.
The website stated that walking in particular can help to relieve stress, muscle tension and reduce stress-related hormones.
Research from Harris Interactive revealed a third of Brits say they struggle to sleep more than once a week and in the last six months, some ten per cent have been prescribed medication to help them doze off at night.
HowStuffWorks added that walking can also aid sleep and increase energy levels, having a positive impact on mental health.
Employees looking to pound the pavements and walk off their stress may wish to look at the Hi-Tec Auckland men's WP walking shoes.
